Behind every great school is a great team of people. We would love you to join our team at Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland. Imagine being part of a school where your passion for teaching is actively nurtured. Where you have great technology and facilities at your fingertips. Where you are teaching students who are genuinely excited to learn. Sound appealing? We are one of New Zealand’s leading independent girls’ schools, with an outstanding reputation for our approach to curriculum design and learning. We welcome day students and boarders from preschool, right through to Year 13. Our academic record stands for itself, but Dio stands for so much more. We believe that education is an adventure involving creativity, imagination and discovery.

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Career Development Practitioner to join our Career Development Services team. Working alongside the Director of Career Services, you will deliver high-quality career counselling and a wide range of development programmes for students in Years 7–13. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping young women discover their strengths, explore their options, and plan confidently for life beyond school.

In this role, you will provide individual career guidance and counselling across all year levels, deliver targeted workshops and career events, and support students with scholarship, tertiary, and employment applications. You will also raise the profile of careers across the school and wider community, liaise with staff to connect curriculum with career opportunities, and maintain accurate records in line with national guidelines and school policies.

We are looking for a candidate with a teaching background and a careers advising qualification, along with practical experience in career guidance. Strong interpersonal skills, genuine empathy, and the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and tertiary providers are essential.

The start date for this role is 27th July 2026 – beginning of term 3.

Applications close Tuesday 16 June 2026 at 5.00pm — to apply or request a job description, visit diocesan.school.nz or contact Katie Ratcliffe at [email protected].
