Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and engaging teacher of Chemistry and Science for Terms 1 to 4, 2021. It is anticipated that the majority of the classes will be Senior School based Chemistry classes, working together with in a collaborative team of approximately five specialist Chemistry teachers.

The successful candidate will be working with a range of students from Years 7-12 across both the Middle and Senior School campuses. They will have proven teaching experience with a specialisation in Chemistry, have a passion for teaching Science and will be easily approachable and able to relate well to students and parents. Some experience teaching within IB Diploma courses would be an advantage.

Our large Science Department comprises teachers who develop engaging, academically challenging environments for all students at all year levels, promoting a love of learning and scientific inquiry. Classes are of mixed ability in the Middle School (Year 7-10) where general Science is taught in accordance with the Australian Curriculum. Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics support the Head of Science in leading the department. Laboratory Technicians are an integral part of the team on both campuses. The Department has recently occupied the state-of-the-art new Science, Visual Art and Technology building which offers outstanding facilities as well as opportunities for collaborative projects at Middle School.

Teachers work collaboratively in all phases of the planning, teaching and assessment cycle, yet enjoy great flexibility and freedom to explore innovative ideas. A range of academic competitions, excursions and visiting speakers are organised to stimulate and enrich students’ learning experiences.
