Located 6km from the Adelaide CBD, Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and engaging teacher of Science and Biology. The successful candidate will be working with a range of students from Years 7-12 across both the Middle and Senior School campuses and will be able to enthuse students in their study of Science and Biology. They will have proven teaching experience with a specialisation in Biology, have a passion for teaching Science and will be easily approachable and able to relate well to students and parents. Some experience teaching within IB Diploma courses would be an advantage.

Our large Science Department comprises teachers who develop engaging, academically challenging environments for all students at all year levels and who promote a love of learning and science inquiry. Australian Curriculum courses are offered in the Middle School, while SACE and IB courses are taught in the Senior School.

Classes are of mixed ability in the Middle School (7-10) where General Science is taught using a range of methods in accordance with the Australian Curriculum. Students with special needs are very well supported across all year levels and experience in adapting curriculum to meet diverse student learning needs would be beneficial. Teachers work collabora vely in all phases of the planning, teaching and assessment cycle, yet enjoy great exibility and freedom to explore innova ve ideas. A range of academic competions, excursions and visiting speakers are organized to simulate and enrich students’ learning experiences.

Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics support the Head of Science in leading the Department and Laboratory Technicians are an integral part of the team on both campuses. The Department is particularly looking forward to the state of the art new Science, Visual Art and Technology building which will offer opportunities for collaborative projects at the Middle School.
