Permanent Full-time Position Commencing January 2019

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding school from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Our current Head of Health and Physical Education is stepping down from this leadership position after 22 years of outstanding service to Pembroke School in this role. We are seeking a visionary educator with excellent team management and people skills to lead to this department. The Health and Physical Education Department provides a broad range of learning experiences, with opportunities for students to explore physical pursuits that are engaging and appropriate to their age and general skill levels. At the Senior School, the Department offerings expand to include SACE Nutrition and Outdoor Education as well as Sports Exercise and Health Science in the IB Diploma. The successful applicant will be able to enthuse students in their study of these subjects and make a significant contribution to the intellectual life of the School.

The Head of Head of Health and Physical Education must be an experienced educational leader with vision as they are a key player in the School’s academic leadership team, contributing strongly to the development of education policy of the whole School through membership of the Academic Management Committee. The Head of Health and Physical Education will work closely with the Dean of Studies, fellow Heads of Department and the Coordinators of Outdoor Education.

This role is complemented by a permanent, substantive, full-time teaching position. The teaching allocation for the position is 0.7 of a full teaching load. The successful applicant will work with students from Years 7 – 12 across both the Middle and Senior School campuses. They will have a passion for working with students, be easily approachable and able to relate well to the entire community.
