  • Full time contract commencing 12 July/ASAP until 26 January 2022  with the possibility of extension.

Charles Weston School is a large primary school in the Molonglo Valley (South Weston Network) catering for students Preschool – Year 6. Our diverse school community has a strong focus on inclusion and inquiry where we foster student agency and create a supportive environment for all learners to achieve. We are a candidate school with the IB Primary Years Programme currently applying for authorization. The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic, flexible and knowledgeable Inclusive Practices teacher who would be responsible for overseeing the instructional curriculum for Tier 3 students. This will include supporting staff in making adjustments for students with diverse learning needs. This role would involve working closely with students and their families to provide personalised programs and wrap around support. As part of our Student Achievement Team you will liaise with our school psychologist and  allied health professionals.You will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and assistants to implement adjustments to teaching programs.

Teachers at Charles Weston School are a part of the South Weston Network of the ACT Education Directorate and work under the conditions set out by the Directorate.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have expertise and experience working with students with diverse learning needs including, down syndrome, trauma, autism, dyslexia, developmental delays, language disorders. 
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of the principles of coaching and a willingness to build the capacity of staff to differentiate;
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Australian Curriculum and the ABLES curriculum;
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrate organisational and administrative skills;
  • Comply with the ACT Directorate’s Code of Conduct, policy and regulatory requirements;
  • Commit to student wellbeing and inclusive principles, 
  • Be knowledgeable of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), or Inquiry learning;

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education, or equivalent;
  • ACT TQI registration (or ability to obtain before commencement);
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration;
