PLC is seeking to appoint an experienced Careers Practitioner who thrives working closely with senior school students, helping to guide them on their education and career pathway. This is a full-time, ongoing position, commencing Term 1 2022.

The Role:

PLC is seeking to appoint an experienced Careers Practitioner who thrives working closely with senior school students, helping to guide them on their education and career pathway. This is a full-time, ongoing position, commencing Term 1 2022.

The Careers Practitioner will manage the provision of a career development service according to the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards. The role requires demonstrated experience in individual student counselling, management of a work experience program and active support of the Christian teachings and ethos of the College.

The Career Practitioner is responsible for:

  • Providing guidance and advice to Year 12 students on tertiary career choices
  • Supporting and guiding Year 12 students following release of results, tertiary offers and change of preferences
  • Providing guidance and advice to Year 10 students on program and subject selection
  • Overseeing the coordination of various work experience programs
  • Regularly updating and communicating careers information to students and parents through a variety of channels
  • Managing and coordinating careers events such as alumni careers evenings, guest speakers, university visits, careers days.

About You:

The successful candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in Career Development or Careers Counselling and have a professional membership of a CICA accredited association. A current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching is highly desirable.

You are a contemporary and innovative careers practitioner and a trusted and respected role model for students and staff with experience working in a high performing school culture. Your strong organisational, communication and administrative skills will be critical to your success in the role.

All staff must commit to a culture that supports and embraces Child Safe Standards. The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check for Employees or hold a current VIT registration.
