Scotch College has the exciting opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic, and experienced teacher to lead our outstanding Science department from Term 1, 2022. This is a rare opportunity following the retirement of the incumbent following a successful 19 year tenure.

The Curriculum Leader, Science will lead and manage a team of fifteen staff in the design and delivery of both the International Baccalaureate and WACE curriculum across years 6-12. The Science Curriculum Leader reports to the Dean of Teaching and Learning in the Senior School and will be expected to work closely with, and to take direction from the Head of Senior and Head of Middle School.

In addition, Curriculum Leaders are part of a team that advise the College Executive and Headmaster on the academic vision of the College whilst also being responsible for the implementation of that vision. The position includes a responsibility allowance and 0.4 time allocation.

Our ideal candidate is an exemplary practitioner with the ability to demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to improving student outcomes and working within a cohesive and motivated faculty. Current department leaders as well as aspiring leaders are encouraged to apply for this career enhancing position.

Practitioners with specialist skills and experience in Physics and or Chemistry teaching are highly desirable. Appropriate postgraduate qualifications or Highly Accomplished or Lead certification and an understanding of International Baccalaureate are both desirable but not essential, our priority is to appoint a leader in thediscipline of science.

The successful candidate must have:

  • the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and members of the broader College community
  • the ability to innovate and act strategically while working closely with individuals and groups to achieve the school’s priorities
  • a demonstrated knowledge and track record in building strong, cohesive and forward- thinking departments
  • a comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian curriculum with demonstrated outstanding levels of achievement in science teaching
