Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and Primary Years Program (PYP). Pembroke School has over 1250 students from Years 7-12.

Our large Languages Department comprises teachers who work energetically to foster the significant cultural, intellectual and vocational benefits which derive from the development of intercultural understanding and proficiency in other languages.

The French Language Coordinator and Semi-immersion Program leader has a key role as a member of the management team for the Languages Department. They will have responsibility for the French language program, including the development of a new French Bilingual Semi-immersion Program in the middle years. In addition, the Leader will also assist the Head of Languages more broadly with the management of the curriculum and the promotion of the study of languages in the School. As an IB World school with significant connections to the international education community, the Languages Department has a special role in promoting intercultural understanding and awareness as well as the cultural and linguistic diversity within our school community. Our students are global citizens who need to appreciate and value the ability to communicate in multiple languages.

In our programmes, language and cultural studies are integrated and presented in contexts of everyday life. Emphasis is placed on comprehension and purposeful communication and topics are selected for their relevance to the experience of our students. Classes are of mixed ability and students are well-supported and have access to a large variety of communicative resources to enrich their learning experiences. They can also take part in a range of student exchanges and language study tours.
