Studies in Languages Other Than English (LOTE) offer personal reward and enrichment, as well as promoting world understanding. The study of a language other than English is a significant part of a student's academic experience and forms an important part of the curriculum at Carey. At Carey, we teach Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin), French and Indonesian; Spanish ab initio is available as a start-up second language in IB.

French is widely spoken around the world including in North America, North and West Africa as well as in several European countries.
