Montessori International College is seeking an experienced and innovative Psychology teacher (including Humanities, Business and/or Mathematics), preferably with experience teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

You must be a person who thrives working as part of a dynamic team of dedicated professionals, who are committed to fostering success. You will need to be flexible, passionate, enthusiastic and have a capacity to engage students at this level. An understanding of the Montessori philosophy is desirable and a willingness to learn and undertake further professional development and training is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach DP Psychology to students in Year 11. The ability to also teach Humanities, Business and/or Mathematics is desirable.
  • Support the learning outcomes of students through well designed curriculum, effective teaching pedagogy and practice and the provision of a safe learning environment that provides meaningful feedback

  • Assist the Assistant Principal (Senior Phase) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator with development and implementation of the IB Career Related Programme
  • Establish trusting and respectful relationships with students and parents that ultimately supports student wellbeing
  • Develop a supportive classroom community and provide quality care for all students
  • Develop and manage resources required to facilitate and support learning
  • Communicate and interact effectively with parents, staff and the broader College community
  • In addition to face-to-face teaching duties and related duties, other duties may include, but are not limited to, mentor/tutor group, student supervision, staff meetings, information evenings, professional development activities, meetings with parents, student/parent/teacher conferences, the student wellbeing program and outdoor education and camps programs.

Essential Criteria

Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available here.

The position commences in Term 2 preferably, or Term 3 by negotiation, 2019 and is part time or full time depending upon the additional teaching areas of the applicant.
