Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and Primary Years Program (PYP). Pembroke School has over 1250 students from Years 7-12.

The Department

In Drama at Pembroke, students enjoy a rigorous and varied programme, centered on exploration of ranging world theatre traditions and contemporary practice. All Middle and Senior School students participate in ensemble-based workshops and performances which enable critical and creative exploration of units studied. They also develop reflective skills of analysis in response to a diversity of plays attended. Year 11 and 12 students also participate in major devised and scripted productions through both SACE and IB pathways and are given opportunities to participate in special events in the wider community such as the Adelaide Fringe and Cabaret Festival.

The Role

We are seeking a visionary educator with outstanding organisational skills, excellent team management and people skills to lead and develop our Drama department. The Head of Drama has the responsibility of overseeing the teaching of Drama across the School. They will be able to motivate and inspire colleagues and students to continue to promote and celebrate the Department within the School and the wider community.

The Head of Drama will maintain familiarity with contemporary developments in Drama and Theatre curricula and be recognised as a well-organised and gifted teacher who is committed to personal creativity, integration of technological innovation in classroom and production practice and student wellbeing. The successful applicant will be able to enthuse and inspire students in their study of Drama and make a significant contribution to the intellectual and cultural life of the School.
