PDHPE/Sport Teacher & Student Wellbeing Coordinator (Primary & High School 7-10)

Founded in 1973, Elonera Montessori School is an independent co-educational school offering high quality Montessori education from 18 months to 18 years with an IB programme for Years 11 and 12. Our beautiful School is situated close to the picturesque coastline of Wollongong.

We are seeking a suitably qualified professional to take on the role of PDHPE/Sport teacher as well as Student Wellbeing coordinator. This is an opportunity for a compassionate, self-motivated and inspiring professional to join a highly dedicated teaching team.

This is a permanent part time role commencing in January 2020. Anticipated weekly workload will be 4 hours for sport in primary (Years 1 to 6), 3 hours of PDHPE in our high school and 3 hours for student wellbeing per week, spread over three days (or as agreed). There is a possibility for the wellbeing component to be a separate role. 


Essential selection criteria for PDHPE/Sport:


  • NESA teacher accreditation
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one  
  • Enthusiasm and experience in teaching physical education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Readiness to align the sport/PDHPE curriculum with the Montessori Philosophy and Method
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment  
  • Strong understanding of the importance of family communications  
  • Commitment to the holistic development of students

Essential selection criteria for Student Wellbeing:

  • NESA teacher accreditation
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one  
  • Knowledge and experience in student wellbeing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Readiness to undertake basic Montessori foundation training to align approach to Montessori Philosophy and Method
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment  
  • Strong understanding of the importance of family communications  
  • Commitment to the holistic development of students

Your Key Responsibilities for Student Wellbeing:

  • Responding to student concerns and enquiries and providing accurate and responsive information to support resolution
  • Participating in events for prospective and commencing students, such as Wellbeing Day and Orientation activities, specific to student life and wellbeing
  • Engaging with the student community and working with Student Support services
  • Effective administration of the Student Experience and Success databases and reporting tools
