Middle School French Teacher

The successful applicant will:


1. Demonstrate a commitment to uphold, support and contribute to the Catholic ethos of the College in the Mercy tradition and be willing to participate and contribute to the life of Mercedes College and the wider community.
2. Be able to demonstrate a high level of competency in French in both written and oral form and an awareness of French speaking communities.
3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how students learn a language and an ability to put this into effective practice.
4. Have a strong knowledge of the progression of language learning from Middle School level to Senior School level. Must have the ability to engage students in language learning and develop their passion for French while demanding academic rigour.
5. Demonstrate an ability to develop positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
6. Show an understanding of the role of ICT in language learning.

7. Demonstrate a commitment to and enthusiasm for working collaboratively within the Language Department and learning community and have a commitment to professional development and life-long learning.
8. Ideally possess a knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of the relevant International Baccalaureate programmes and aim to foster congruent learning experiences for students. This would be an advantage but not essential.
