  • One contract position for Term 4
  • One of the above positions requires the ability to teach Year 11 Physics

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

We are seeking dynamic, innovative and engaging teachers of Middle School Science and Physics. One of the above positions requires the ability to teach Year 11 Physics. For Middle School Science teachers, the ability to teach Physics content to a Year 10 level would be an advantage, but not essential. The successful candidates will work with a range of students from Years 7-11 to enthuse students in their study of Science. They will have proven teaching experience, a passion for teaching Science and will be easily approachable and able to relate well to students and parents.

Our large Science Department comprises teachers who develop engaging, academically challenging environments for all students at all year levels and who promote a love of learning and scientific inquiry. Australian Curriculum courses are offered in the Middle School, while SACE and IB courses are taught in the Senior School. Classes are of mixed ability in the Middle School (7-10) where General Science is taught using a range of methods in accordance with the Australian Curriculum. Students with special needs are very well supported across all year levels and experience in adapting curriculum to meet diverse student learning needs would be beneficial. Teachers work collaboratively in all phases of the planning, teaching and assessment cycle, yet enjoy great flexibility and freedom to explore innovative ideas. A range of academic competitions, excursions and visiting speakers are organised to stimulate and enrich students’ learning experiences.

Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics support the Head of Science in leading the Department and Laboratory Technicians are an integral part of the team on both campuses. The Department is enjoying the new state of the art Technology, Science and Visual Art building which offers opportunities for collaborative projects at the Middle School.
