The Role

A Head of House at CGGS plays an integral role in the development of student wellbeing and community.  Forming an essential part of the middle management team who drive student wellbeing for academic success, the six Heads of House work together to create house spirit, community, commitment to self and others, and provide individualised care to our students.  Heads of House are the link between home and school, working closely with parents in the home-school partnership that is essential for student success.

The role of Head of House is suited to a committed, passionate and innovative educator who understands the needs of adolescent girls and how to best support them in their learning.  Engagement with current research and thinking into student wellbeing is important to this role as well as the ability to positively collaborate with colleagues for student outcomes.  Whilst primarily a student centred role, the Heads of House team contribute to the design and implementation of the pastoral care program and associated policies, and deliver pastoral care programs and initiatives for student wellbeing.

This middle management position will commence in January 2021 and is initially a three-year contract position with a possible three-year extension.

Suitability

Candidates should hold appropriate undergraduate qualifications for a teaching and middle leadership position.  Postgraduate qualifications, specifically in student wellbeing, will be highly regarded.  Candidates are expected to possess a sound understanding of current educational trends and factors that impact adolescent girls learning. 

All teaching staff are expected to take part in the whole life of the School, including participation in pastoral care and co-curricular activities.

Candidates must have a current WWVP and registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (or ability to obtain this registration) as conditions of employment.  A current first aid certificate is desirable.
