Open to a part-time/job share option with a teaching allocation, or full time without teaching, Radford is seeking to recruit a driven and motivated Head of Sport to inspire enthusiasm for sports throughout the College, and engendering a co-ordinated approach across the campus.

 About the role

Open to a part-time/job share option with a teaching allocation, or full time without teaching, Radford is seeking to recruit a driven and motivated Head of Sport to inspire enthusiasm for sports throughout the College, and engendering a co-ordinated approach across the campus.  Supported by sports administrators who manage and lead selected sports, and Sport Directors who provide coaching direction for individual sports, the College currently offers choices to students in:

  • Summer: Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Mountain Biking, Oz Tag, Rowing, Futsal, and Tennis.
  • Winter: Basketball, Chess, Equestrian, Football, Netball, Rugby Union, Snowsports, Orienteering, and Tennis

Required Qualities

Coupled with a passion for sport, applicants must have a high degree of initiative, drive and organisation as well as being an excellent team player. They need to be a confident self-starter who enjoys building relationships with multiple stakeholders both inside and outside the College, possesses excellent communication skills, has a strong customer-service focus and can be relied upon to work autonomously. A knowledge of, or an experience in schools is desirable.

Candidates must:

  • Be technically competent and confident (intermediate to high proficiency) in the MSOffice suite including Microsoft Teams and willing to learn school systems (for example Synergetic, Seqta)
  • Demonstrate a passion for collaborative working as a member of a high-functioning team, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and demonstrate a willingness to grow through the sharing of best practice and professional experience
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent time management skills
  • Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of student welfare
  • Be reliable and punctual

Qualifications

  • High level experience as a sports administrator in or outside the school setting
  • Teaching qualification recognised by the ACT Department of Education; maintain registration as a teacher with the Teacher Quality Institute, including WWVP (for part-time/job share applicants)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Light Rigid Bus Licence (or the ability to obtain one)
