Presbyterian Ladies' College - Melbourne
PLC is a girls' school founded in 1875 for students from early learning/prep to Year 12, with a state-of-the-art Boarding House available for Years 7 to 12. Presbyterian Ladies' College is a Christian, independent school, continuing a distinguished tradition of providing breadth, strength and quality of educational opportunity for balanced, lifelong, personal development, leadership and service. PLC girls consistently achieve the highest academic results, placing PLC as the No 1 independent girls school in the State and one of the highest in Australia.
Students from the College were the first women admitted to the University of Melbourne and were the first women to graduate from the Faculties of Medicine and Law.
The College continues to foster the highest possible academic standards and at the same time provide the broadest opportunities for music, cultural, sporting and personal development and growth.
Through the IB program our students have graduated to attend some of the most renowned universities in the world including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale and many other world class learning institutions.
A modern on-campus boarding house offers a welcoming environment for girls from regional Victoria, interstate and overseas and is so much more than a place to sleep after school each day. Boarders are encouraged to venture beyond the PLC campus on the weekend and enjoy everything from Melbourne’s pre-eminent sporting and entertainment scene, local and international galleries, renowned exhibitions, shopping and much more.
The Performing Arts Centre, opened in 2017, has a 550-seat theatre, music school, performance and practice studio, drama and music rooms. Several drama productions and musicals are held each year.
The Learning Resource Centre houses a spacious library, as well as a suite of Information Technology labs, Multi-Media lab, AV editing and recording suites and an Urban Plaza that links the LRC to the rest of Senior School.
The Aquatic Centre has 2 indoor swimming pools, offering Learn to Swim programs, Club Swimming, Diving and Synchronised Swimming alongside the school’s aquatic programs for Junior and Senior School students and the GSV programs of water polo, swimming and diving.
Being part of the PLC community also gives students access to a diverse range of extra-curricular clubs, over 20 different sports, public speaking and debating, outdoor education, leadership and service, overseas visits and exchange programs.
