About Us
Somerville House is a day and boarding school for girls established in 1899, providing exceptional education for students from Prep through to Year 12, with co-education Pre-Prep offering. Somerville House students have the opportunity to participate in an extensive academic, sporting and cultural program, while receiving high standards in personal care and individual attention within the School community.
Somerville House is a member of the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA). The PMSA is a mission of the Presbyterian and Uniting Churches.
As our current Head of Boarding takes on a new position within the School, we are looking for our next Head of Boarding, commencing from 1 January 2026 on a fixed-term, full-time basis for three years, continuing until 31 December 2028.

Currently accommodating up to 100 local, rural and overseas boarding students across Years 5 – 12 as the Head of Boarding you will:
- Make meaningful impact on the lives of our boarders academically, pastorally and personally.
- Lead the Boarding House staff competently, compassionately and professionally.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong, collegial and professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Build a strong sense of ‘community’ with the boarders and their families.
- Ensure the operations and administration of the Boarding House are strategic, nurturing, energetic, and collaborative.
This position is required to live on campus with appropriate accommodation and all utilities incorporated into the package.
It is a mandatory requirement to have formal qualifications and experience in the area of residential care and hold Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) Registration (or eligibility for registration). It would be highly advantageous to have significant experience in an Independent Boarding School or in a similar pastoral role.
