Job Description
About the Role
The Friends’ School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary School Teacher to join our vibrant learning community. The role spans three-year-old Kindergarten to Year 6 and involves teaching, curriculum development, and pastoral care, all within the context of the School’s Quaker values and child-safe environment.
The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the learning journey of students, fostering inquiry-based education, and contributing to a collaborative team of Morris teachers. You will actively support the School’s professional learning program, co-curricular activities, and the holistic development of all students.
Key Focus Areas
- Deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning programs aligned with the IB Primary Years Program and Australian Curriculum.
- Participate collaboratively in planning, curriculum implementation, and student assessment.
- Support the pastoral care and wellbeing of all students, demonstrating ethical and professional standards.
- Contribute to co-curricular programs, assemblies, supervisory duties, and School events.
- Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
- Uphold School policies, expectations, and the Quaker ethos in all teaching and interactions.
- Participate in professional learning aligned with the School’s Improvement Plan and strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with child safeguarding and mandatory reporting requirements.

Essential Qualifications
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in education and teaching registration in Tasmania (or eligibility to obtain).
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment category) and a recent National Police Check.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver effective teaching and learning programs for students across multiple year levels.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team and with parents.
- Commitment to child safeguarding and alignment with the Purpose and Concerns of The Friends’ School.
