About Us

Somerville House is a day and boarding school, established in 1899 providing exceptional education for girls from Pre-Prep through to Year 12, with a co-educational Pre-Prep offering. Somerville House students have the opportunity to participate in an extensive academic, sporting and cultural program, while receiving high standards in personal care and individual attention within the School community.

An exciting opportunity presents itself for a highly experienced Head of Year to join us from the 2026 academic year on a three-year fixed-term contract.

The Head of Year is instrumental in the pastoral care and wellbeing of students across the Senior School. With the ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff and students you will model exemplary standards with a passion for empowering girls’ education!

Candidates should have a strong understanding of the current issues facing girls and young women. It would be highly advantageous is candidates have proven recent experience in a Head of Year position (or similar).  This position will commence in 2026 as Head of Year 11 (or as operationally required by the School) rotating year levels on a yearly basis.

It is a mandatory requirement for this position that you hold a current Queensland College of Teachers Registration (QCT).
