Head of Sport – Senior School
The Head of Sport – Senior School is responsible for leading and managing the sport and physical activity program for students in Years 7–12. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive, and engaging sports experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for sport in the Senior School, aligned with Tara’s values and educational goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of coaches and staff across a wide range of sports.
- Coordinate inter-school competitions, carnivals, and representative pathways.
- Promote student participation, wellbeing, and performance through inclusive programming.
- Oversee budget, facilities, and equipment management for Senior School sport.
- Collaborate with academic and pastoral teams to integrate sport into the broader school experience.
- Maintain strong relationships with external sporting bodies and associations.
Essential Criteria
- Proven leadership experience in sport education at a secondary level.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- NESA Accreditation.
- Strong organisational, communication, and team-building skills.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and holistic development.
- Ability to inspire and engage young learners.

Head of Sport – Junior School
The Head of Sport – Junior School will lead the design and delivery of sport and physical activity programs for students in Kindergarten to Year 6. This role is pivotal in fostering early engagement, skill development, and enjoyment of movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design age-appropriate sport and physical activity programs that support skill acquisition and enjoyment.
- Lead and support Junior School staff and coaches in delivering high-quality lessons and activities.
- Organise school carnivals, inter-school events, and community sport initiatives.
- Promote physical literacy and active lifestyles from an early age.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate movement into the broader curriculum.
- Ensure safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate practices across all activities.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in sport education at a primary level.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- NESA Accreditation.
- Strong understanding of child development and physical literacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for nurturing young learners through movement and sport.
