MLC School is looking for creative and dynamic Head of Bands Teacher to join the music department on a full-time, permanent basis from 2026 onwards.

MLC School is looking for creative and dynamic Head of Bands Teacher who will educate and inspire young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion to be agents of change in their own lives and in the lives of others.

About the role:

The position of Head of Bands is responsible for leading the woodwind, brass, percussion and coordinating the teaching of instruments and directing of associated ensembles. The Head of Bands will lead the designing and delivery of an innovative Co-curricular Band Program that is aligned to the learning philosophies, policies and practices of the School. In this role you will: lead and manage all visiting band instrumental music teachers; coordinate performers, repertoire, and rehearsals for school events; organise performance master classes; manage the cataloguing and inventory of music instruments; as well as teach the music curriculum to students.

About You
You are a proactive, collaborative and detail-oriented professional with:

  • A degree in teaching and NESA accreditation.
  • Have concert bands or jazz band experience.
  • A commitment to girls’ education and the values of MLC School and the Uniting Church.
