The opportunity
Radford College is seeking a compassionate and qualified Psychologist to join our dynamic Secondary School Wellbeing Team. This is a fixed-term, parental leave cover position of 1 semester with the possibility of extension, working 30.4 hours per week, across 4 days. The successful candidate will commence in January 2025, working with students across Year 7 – 12.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual services to Secondary School students, promoting their emotional, social, and mental wellbeing.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ psychological needs and support the development of individual learning and wellbeing plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and the Wellbeing Team to provide holistic support for students.
- Offer evidence-based advice and best practice strategies to staff on how to support students’ emotional and behavioural development within the classroom setting.
- Facilitate workshops and professional development sessions for staff and parents on student wellbeing, mental health, and resilience.
As our Secondary School Psychologist, you will:
- Have knowledge of the principles of Positive Psychology embedded in school contexts.
- Demonstrate a passion for collaborative working as a member of a high-functioning team, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Be energetic, enthusiastic, and demonstrate a willingness to grow through the sharing of best practice and professional experience.
- Join and attend meetings/activities of the Wellbeing Team.
- Conduct Parent Education courses when demand exists and time permits.
- Support Radford’s strategic priorities and goals, upholding Radford’s values of Truth, Compassion, and Wisdom.
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant degree in Psychology, along with registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Experience working in an educational setting with children, preferably within a Secondary School environment.
- Strong understanding of child development, learning difficulties, and mental health conditions affecting school-aged children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist would be highly regarded.
- Be a Board-approved supervisor or willingness to undertake the appropriate training, would be highly regarded
