Sound appealing? We strongly believe that behind every great school is a great team of people – and we’d love you to join ours! We are looking for a full-time Creative Industries Technician, specialising in all things digital, to start in Term 1 or 2, 2025.
As our “FabLab” Technician you will provide expert support ensuring digital design equipment & resources are managed to effectively deliver teaching programmes in an innovative area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Providing support to students and staff in the use of multimedia applications and technical assistance to the key areas of the Creative Industries department
• Undertake responsibility for video or digital media production including the configuration of cameras, screens, and control equipment, as well as the production of any necessary visual media items
• Induct, train, and supervise staff who may be using technical equipment in the FabLab space
• Support and guide teachers in the FabLab to provide quality education programmes using a range of digital equipment and specialist facilities
• Inventory management, maintenance (including regular inspections) and care of all equipment ranging from laser cutter, 3D Printers, editing suites, cameras and a range of film gear maintained across the FabLab
• Maintain copyright database for screen right portion of the copyright licence
The successful applicant will have:
• Previous experience with multi-media applications and technical equipment including some of the following: Digital film making, Green Screen, motion capture, VR or AR, 3D printing, Laser cutting, Adobe Creative Suite and other digital design or rendering programmes and studio production
• Considerable technical knowledge of multimedia digital production
• Highly developed computer and/or digital fabrication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot minor AV, Apple and/or PC hardware or software problems
• Ability to learn new and varied technical systems
As the role will liaise with a range of stakeholders, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Good problem-solving ability and the initiative to anticipate stakeholder needs are key, as are excellent relationship and customer service skills. A good working knowledge of legislation and regulations, including health and safety, is essential.
