Business Management/Commerce Teacher
Westbourne College is growing and we are looking for new team members. If you are an experienced IBDP Business Management teacher keen to work in an environment where you can focus on the joy of teaching in an academically selective senior environment, Westbourne may be the school for you!. • Full-time or Part-time, permanent role • Located in Ultimo • Generous above-award salary. Salary will be commensurate with experience and related qualifications. • Start date Term 1, 2025 with an earlier start date possible. • Teaching Year 10 (Stage 5) Commerce and IBDP Year 11 – 12. Co-ed, academically elite, highly motivated, STEM-focused students. Ability to teach Year 10 English an advantage but not essential. • Experience teaching the IB Diploma is certainly desirable, but not essential. Accelerated training will be provided if new to the IB.

Our team is Sydney are supported by our Westbourne International leadership team and join staff from our fellow schools in Cardiff and Singapore. All our colleges are co-ed, selective and deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
About the role
Developing a passion for all subjects within the IB Diploma Programme is key to our students’ success at our college, but also for their future success in life, and their chosen careers. As a STEM/Business focused school, Business management is foundational to our student’s success in our wider programme.
The successful candidate will therefore be an experienced, effective Business Management or Business Studies teacher who can demonstrate leadership in their field. They will be part of a small team that is responsible for teaching NSW Stage 5 Commerce to our Year 10 students and IB Standard Level and Higher Level Business Management to our Year 11 and 12 students.
As a talented and passionate Business Management Teacher, you will foster a love of business and relates studies and drive the development and implementation of engaging learning activities, assessments and programs, designed to enhance motivation and underpin the achievement of academic excellence.
Working collaboratively with the Westbourne team, you will also be a vital support for students in the core components of the IB, such as Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay. The opportunities for ongoing career development and international collaboration are limited only by the successful candidate’s desire, drive and commitment. About you
You will demonstrate the following essential attributes and capabilities:
- Be a confident and highly effective classroom teacher with recent experience in IB Business Management or Stage 6 Business Studies or Economics.
- Be an effective team contributor and demonstrate exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
- Have extensive experience in developing programs and delivering syllabus requirements
- Demonstrate commitment to the success of program delivery
- Able to adapt to new technology to enhance learning
- Be a self-aware professional, interested in ongoing professional development
- Be committed to supporting student wellbeing
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a positive college culture
You will demonstrate the following desirable attributes and capabilities:
- Willing to provide leadership, voice and initiative in your field
- Have experience in teaching IB Business Management at Standard and Higher Level and supporting students in the successful completion of the IB core components
- Demonstrate an awareness and interest in the IB aims and mission
- Willing to collaborate with other IB Business Management teachers within the Westbourne group and other Australian IB schools
- Able and willing to develop new and innovative Year 10 programs or projects that enhance the success of students in senior years
- Able and willing to contribute to the support of students in the IB core components – Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS.
- Skills in computer programming, computer modelling or robotics will be particularly valuable.
Successful candidates must comply with the NSW Teacher Accreditation Act, have a current accreditation with NESA and provide a Working with Children Check.
