About Us
Somerville House is a day and boarding school for girls established in 1899, providing exceptional education for students from Prep through to Year 12, with co-education Pre-Prep offering. Somerville House students have the opportunity to participate in an extensive academic, sporting and cultural program, while receiving high standards in personal care and individual attention within the School community.
Somerville House is a member of the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA). The PMSA is a mission of the Presbyterian and Uniting Churches.
The Role
The Dean of Students is responsible for providing strategic leadership in student wellbeing, inclusion, behaviour, engagement, health services and student learning across Years 7-12 in line with the Culture of Care Wellbeing Framework.
The role will collaborate closely with the Junior School Wellbeing leaders, Head of Boarding. Heads of Year and Senior Chaplain and is an integral part of the Senior Leadership and Academic Leadership teams supporting the School’s philosophy, policies, procedures and core values.
The successful applicant will have:
- A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership or a related field.
- Qld College of Teachers’ Registration (or eligibility for registration).
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior Wellbeing or Student Services Leadership position within an educational context.
- Proven capacity to lead strategic, cultural and operational change.
This is a 3-year fixed-term contract with the option of a 2-year extension commencing Term 4, 2025 or as negotiated with the preferred candidate.
