With a legacy of excellence in education, Radford College fosters a dynamic learning environment that nurtures academic achievement, innovation, and community engagement within a supportive Christian framework.

About the role

Working closely with the Principal, the Head of Learning and Teaching (Years 7-12) is a key member of the College Executive, responsible for driving the College’s educational vision for the Secondary School. This role demands a leader with a profound understanding of contemporary pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment practices, who can foster a dynamic and rigorous learning environment.

While primarily focused on Years 7-12, the role will also work closely with our Junior School to ensure seamless educational pathways and a cohesive learning experience from Kindergarten to Year 12.

This position will have three primary areas of focus:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Providing overarching vision and direction for learning and teaching in the Secondary School, aligning with the College’s Strategic Intent and ensuring Radford College remains at the forefront of educational innovation.
  2. Academic Operational Leadership: Overseeing the effective implementation and management of educational programs, curriculum, assessment and reporting, ensuring they are well-structured, coherent, and responsive to student needs.
  3. Instructional Leadership: Inspiring, supporting, and developing teaching staff to achieve excellence in their professional practice, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and pedagogical innovation.

Offered as a full-time position commencing in 2026, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced and inspirational leader. The appointee will be an exceptional communicator, a proven educational leader and have experience in leading and building a strong culture of trust, professional discipline and care. This role demands a visible, values-driven presence across campus — someone who leads with purpose, inspires excellence, and builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families alike.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the College’s educational vision for the Secondary School, ensuring alignment with best practices and the College’s strategic goals.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in teaching and learning through the effective use of data, monitoring student outcomes across the Secondary School.
  • Collaborating closely with staff to implement and refine effective data-driven learning and assessment frameworks.
  • Leading the Academic Leadership team, working directly with Heads of Department, to ensure academic rigour and growth in the Secondary School.
  • Driving academic excellence and optimal student outcomes within the Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) framework in the Senior School (Years 11-12).
  • Fostering a culture of innovative teaching practices, promoting professional dialogue and collaborative learning among staff.
  • Ensuring educational programs are well-structured, engaging, and cater to the diverse learning needs of all students, including high potential learners.

We are seeking an inspiring, experienced, and deeply committed educational leader who possesses:

  • Demonstrated success in significant academic leadership roles within a Secondary School setting (Years 7-12).
  • A profound understanding of contemporary learning theories, curriculum design, and assessment practices.
  • Proven expertise in using data to inform pedagogical decisions and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.
  • Exceptional instructional leadership capabilities, with a track record of inspiring and developing high-performing teaching teams.
  • Strong experience with the BSSS system and a clear vision for achieving academic excellence in senior secondary years.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A deep commitment to the Anglican ethos and Christian values of Radford College.
  • The capacity to contribute strategically as a member of the College Executive Leadership team.
