About Us

We are a warm and inclusive early childhood service committed to providing high-quality education and care for children aged 3–6.

Our program is guided by the EYLF and implemented within an inquiry-based PYP framework, embedding play-based, child-led learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

We are a community-based preschool operating on the beautiful grounds of the Hunter Vallery Grammar School. Our operating hours are 8am – 4pm, 38 weeks of the year, during school terms.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and reliable Assistant Educator – Cert III qualified to join our friendly Early Learning Centre team at Hunter Valley Grammar School on a full-time, permanent basis.

Our Assistant Educators are responsible for providing education and care for children enrolled at the service, consistent with our philosophy, policies and procedures and curriculum, and according to the requirements of the National Quality Framework.

Assistant Educators work in collaboration with other educators, the Educational Leader, the Nominated Supervisor and other professionals and communities.

This position is a permanent full time position.

Key Duties

  • Hold an ACECQA approved Certificate III level qualification, or be actively working towards this qualification.
  • Responsibility for managing one’s own fee payment and maintenance of a current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework (V2.0).
  • Ability to relate effectively with children and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills, a willingness to be an active team member and contribute to the broader fabric of the School.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong professional rapport with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong ICT skills will be regarded favourably. This includes the purposeful integration of technology and the capacity to use technology well in completing personal professional tasks.
  • Excellent time-management and administrative skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Ability to:
    • Work autonomously, using initiative and without direct supervision support.
    • Prioritise, work under pressure and to deadlines.
    • Be flexible and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
    • Pick up new systems quickly.
    • Recognise internal and external feedback as an opportunity for growth.
    • Engage, motivate and inspire within and beyond their team.
    • Display empathy, enthusiasm, commitment and strong work ethic.
    • Be flexible, agile, positive and resilient to operate and adapt in a dynamic environment.
