 is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Department – Languages to lead a vibrant team of educators committed to empowering young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion—ready to shape their own futures and the world around them.

About the Position

As a pedagogical leader, the Head of Department – Languages will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of innovative and inclusive language programs aligned with the School’s strategic goals.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and holistic development through mentoring, collaboration, and data-informed practice.
  • Promote the importance of language learning in developing global citizens who are culturally aware, articulate, and confident communicators.

This role requires expertise in modern languages, with experience in ancient languages (e.g., Latin or Classical Greek) considered an advantage but not essential.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in designing and implementing language programs that meet NESA, IB, and School reporting requirements.
  • Deep content knowledge and pedagogical expertise in modern languages, with the ability to support a diverse team of language educators.
  • A collaborative approach to curriculum development and teaching practice, informed by current research and student needs.
  • A commitment to fostering student wellbeing and academic growth through inclusive and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to engaging with parents and carers.
  • A passion for co-curricular involvement and the broader life of the School.
  • Experience or interest in teaching the IB Diploma Programme is desirable.
