About Us
Somerville House is a day and boarding school, established in 1899 providing exceptional education for girls from Pre-Prep through to Year 12, with a co-educational Pre-Prep offering. An exciting opportunity presents itself for a highly experienced Middle Leader to join our Academic Leadership team as the Associate Dean of School Operations.
This position will commence from 7 October 2025 as a full-time, fixed-term position for three (3) years (or as negotiated with the successful candidate) which includes an allocated teaching load.
With the ability to be analytical, innovative and creative, you will play a crucial role in the Prep – Year 12 annual timetable, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders, accommodating requests where possible whilst meeting the School’s operational requirements.
As a Middle Leader in the Senior School, you will also be responsible for the day to day running of the Senior School including but not limited to, exam blocks, NAPLAN, Academic Awards and Photo Day’s.
It is an exciting time in the life of Somerville House as from 2026, students and staff will have the choice of pursuing either the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) reflecting our belief in meaningful choice and academic excellence.

Candidates should have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate and interact with staff, students, parents and external stakeholders, whilst having advanced IT competency in the use of timetabling software (EDVAL would be highly regarded), learning management systems (SchoolBox) and Microsoft programs.
It is a mandatory requirement for this position that you hold a current Queensland College of Teachers Registration (QCT).
