Secondary School Teacher

Australian International Academy of Education Inc. (AIAE Inc./ AIA) established in 1983 is an independent, progressive, co-educational school with 4 campuses in Melbourne. The Academy offers the (IB) International Baccalaureate programmes and the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). AIAE provides students with opportunities to excel academically, to grow in leadership, sporting achievements, arts, performing arts and other extra-curricular programs. Applicants must be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and demonstrate a genuine care for students. The successful applicants will possess the relevant qualifications for the position and be currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Graduates are welcome to apply.

A proactive child safety and health and safety approach is a must. A dedication and commitment to the teaching vocation and the over-arching care and nurturing of our students to achieve and accomplish academically and in their individual strengths and capabilities.

Duties:

• Presenting prescribed curriculum using a range of teaching techniques and materials
• Developing students’ interests, abilities and coordination by way of creative activities
• Guiding discussions and supervising work in class
• Preparing, administering and marking tests, projects and assignments to evaluate students’ progress and recording the results
• Discussing individual progress and problems with students and parents, and seeking advice from Student Counsellors and senior teachers
• Maintaining discipline in classrooms and other school areas
• Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences and workshops
• Liaising with parent, community and business groups
• Maintaining class and scholastic records
• Performing extra-curricular tasks such as assisting with sport, school concerts, excursions and special interest programs
• Supervising student teachers on placement

Required:

– Minimum 1 years’ post qualification experience as a secondary school teacher

– Bachelor of Education or Higher or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education

– VIT Registration
