The Middle Years Teacher (Grades 6–8) plays a vital role in supporting Rivercrest Christian College’s mission by delivering high-quality education grounded in Christian values and the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. This role involves fostering students’ academic growth, spiritual development, and overall wellbeing, while working collaboratively within the College community.

Key Responsibilities
Pastoral Care
- Provide pastoral care and build strong, supportive relationships with students.
- Encourage students in their Christian faith, character development, and social-emotional wellbeing.
- Partner with parents/caregivers in supporting student learning and personal growth.
- Lead regular class devotions and participate in the spiritual life of the College.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based learning programs aligned with the IB framework and College policies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Monitor and assess student learning progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Use effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.
Professional Engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, assessment, and moderation.
- Participate actively in professional development, including IB training.
- Contribute to the professional growth of peers by sharing expertise, ideas, and resources.
Administration and Duties
- Maintain accurate student records, reports, and communication with parents.
- Fulfil supervisory responsibilities, including yard duty, excursions, and camps.
- Adhere to College policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, and co-curricular programs.
Key Selection Criteria
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
- Demonstrated experience and success in teaching at the middle years level (Grades 6–8).
- Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the International Baccalaureate framework and inquiry-based learning.
- Commitment to the Christian ethos, mission, and values of the College.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- High level of ICT proficiency in teaching and learning applications.
