We are seeking an outstanding and passionate Senior Teacher of English to join our team from 10 August 2026 (Term 3, Week 5).
Why Join Us?

Somerville House is a school where innovation and tradition go hand in hand. With a strong record of academic achievement and a clear commitment to future-focused learning, we offer a dynamic environment where educators are supported to grow, contribute and thrive.
With the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), students can now pursue either the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) — reflecting our commitment to meaningful choice and academic excellence. While involvement in the IBDP is not a requirement for this role, we actively support staff who are interested in professional learning across both pathways.

- Has expertise in Senior English (Years 11 & 12) and a strong understanding of QCAA and the Australian Curriculum.
- Values innovation, collaboration and ongoing professional growth.
- Understands that positive relationships are central to effective learning.
- Holds current Queensland College of Teacher registration (QCT) and relevant tertiary qualifications.
What We Offer
- A high-performing academic team driven by excellence and care.
- A warm, collegial staff culture aligned with the Somerville House Culture of Care framework.
- A strong commitment to professional learning, including investment in IBDP training for interested staff as we continue to expand our dual QCE-IBDP pathway.
