As a secondary Science Teacher, you’ll inspire, innovate, and elevate student outcomes through direct teaching and active engagement.
This is a permanent fulltime (1FTE) opportunity commencing Term 1 2025, located at our Senior Campus in Mowbray.
This great opportunity will suit a candidate who is able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience teaching secondary level science for Grades 7-10.
- The ability to teach the physical sciences at a TCE level would be an advantage/desirable.
- Sound knowledge and an innovative and engaging approach to teaching the Australian Curriculum (Science) to students across the Secondary grades.
- A detailed understanding of principles and practices of student learning strategies.
- Confidence in the use of technology and a willingness to embrace it to enhance learning;
- Ability to demonstrate effective classroom management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Proven experience in establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Commitment to supporting the wellbeing of students.
- Experience in differentiating curriculum and measuring effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and innovative lesson plans aligned with the Australian Curriculum, integrating real-world applications and examples.
- Manage student behaviour effectively to create a conducive atmosphere for learning.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of scientific principles across various branches of science.
- Stay informed about advancements in the field and incorporate relevant updates into teaching.
- Foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry skills among students.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Education;
- Current registration with the Tasmanian Teacher’s Registration Board, or be eligible for registration; and
- Current registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania),or be eligible for registration.
All staff participate in events, activities and co-curricular programs as well as undertake professional duties and meetings as required.
