About this Event

Self-regulation and agency have been further revealed as key competencies for this post-Covid era. How might we move away from teacher-centred models to authentically student-driven learning? In this seminar we’ll examine the concepts like self-determination as well as the concrete steps we can take to generate motivation and move from simply informing or involving learners to co-designing and partnering with them. Examining the emerging practices from across the globe, we will consider how a new realism might ensure the essential components, levels and aspects of student (and teacher) agency are at the centre of schools into the future.

“The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What an educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves.”

― Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
