International Baccalaureate Diploma Examinations began on 2 November and concluded on 22 November for over two and half thousand Australasian candidates.

The IB Diploma Programme is an international matriculation programme studied by approximately 170,000 students around the world and an increasing number of Australasian students. Each year Australasian students achieve outstanding results, demonstrating the excellence in teaching and learning in Australasian IB Schools. The breakdown of candidates across Australasia is Victoria 693, Queensland 551, New South Wales 439, South Australia 381, ACT 106, Western Australia 62, Tasmania 31 and Northern Territory 24. 370 candidates are sitting for exams in New Zealand. Additional candidates are sitting for Diploma exams in Papua New Guinea and Fiji. This represents an increase over 2015 of approximately 10%.

Diploma results will be released on January 4, 2017 to schools.  Students will have access to their results online from January 6.

The International Baccalaureate is also studied by students through the Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme as well as a Career Related Programme which acts as an alternative to the Diploma Programme.  Many Australasian schools offer a combination of two or three IB programmes.
