Al Zahra College is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, authorised to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Al Zahra College provides a learning environment in which each student is able to develop an understanding and respect for his or her own cultural background and take pride in whom he or she is. Consequently, the ability for students to respect other cultures is strengthened
In late 2013, Al Zahra College became authorized to run the IB: Diploma Programme for years 11 and 12. In 2014, AZC began to enrol students into Year 11 and offered Year 12 classes at the start of 2015. The decision to launch the IB Diploma Programme was inspired by the principles which are enshrined in it. We are excited about the benefits which the IB has brought to the school and to our students. -The IBDP was a logical progression for Al Zahra College. The extra-curricular life of the school is already rich and varied. -A dedicated, highly-qualified teaching staff is enthusiastic about teaching a curriculum which demands active involvement by students. -We have carefully planned for the challenges which face all schools embarking on the IBDP, and have consulted widely with other schools and experienced IBDP teachers. -There has been extensive teacher training. We are committed to providing the resources necessary to making it work well from the outset.
Our Primary School caters for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. As an Authorised PYP School, the focus is on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. The Primary School is full of action with the AZC Parliament, interschool sport, expeditions and a host of special events, including fundraising for charity. We are very proud of what we achieve in the Primary School.
