Welcome to Cleveland District State High School, a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. I invite you to visit the only school in the Redlands with international accreditation, one of South East Queensland’s most popular schools, enquire about enrolment and inspect our facilities. Our students are encouraged to achieve their personal best, develop a strong work ethic, enjoy their time at school and support each other. The development of a caring and supportive school community is at the heart of all that we do. With extensive co-curricular opportunities, Cleveland high students are challenged to develop their academic, sporting, cultural and citizenship talents.
What do we stand for?
We have three fundamental drivers that underpin all that we do:
Kaizen – small continuous focused improvement every single day
Neoteny – In scientific terms this means retaining juvenile characteristics into adulthood. For us this is expressed as cultivating and retaining those habits of mind such as finding humour, responding with wonder and awe, thinking flexibly, creating, imagining and innovating.
Ubuntu – “You are therefore I am.” Genuinely defining our wellbeing by the wellbeing of those around us.
The data from our school opinion survey shows that our students, parents and staff believe that this is a great school – we are the school of choice in the Redlands. Our school opinion data is well above State and like schools and among the best in Queensland. Most importantly our students indicate they feel safe, they are happy and they are learning!
Our students are able to achieve whatever they wish, get whatever results they want if they are not prepared to accept anything less than their best. All members of our learning community are committed to helping young people reach their potential at school and make a successful transition to work or further study.
To complement our work with the Council of International Schools and our commitment to Global Education, we are excited to be an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the prestigious Diploma Programme for students in Years 11 and 12. The Diploma Programme is another way for us to provide all students with a dynamic and world renowned educational experience as they prepare for University entrance. The IB Diploma prepares students for university and encourages them to: learn how to learn ask challenging questions; develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture; and develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures. Accreditation with the International Baccalaureate Organization requires the school to follow a rigorous, internationally benchmarked process to ensure quality of curriculum and delivery with thorough training of staff and exceptional resources. Cleveland District State High School welcomes students from all around the globe as well as from our local community, offering a world-class education and a wide range of co-curricular experiences.
