Humanitas High School

Introduction

Humanitas High School is a democratic community school catering to Years 7 to 12,

with an IB-only curriculum in Years 11 and 12. We are one of only a few schools in

Australia to offer both the IB Diploma Programme and IB Career-related

Programme, tailoring an IB education to suit each individual in our community.

Opened in mid-2021 in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, we take frequent advantage of the

many real world resources and opportunities on our doorstep and further afield,

supporting students to pursue passions, and follow lines of inquiry, beyond the walls

of the school. In offering co-created, multi-age, connected curricular options, we

give students a significant say in how they access the Australian Curriculum in Years

7 to 10. This is accompanied by systemic support of students’ individual

interest-based and community projects, undertaken and celebrated each term.

In the Senior Years at Humanitas High School, we are proud to offer an immense

breadth of opportunities by tailoring a personalised pathway to honour the

individual aspirations of a wide range of learners. We support students, in

partnership with families, to opt into the senior pathway that suits them best:

IB Diploma Programme (IBDP); or

IB Career-related Programme (IBCP);

We are also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and currently offer a

Certificate III in Visual Arts on site.

Learning in Years 11 and 12 at Humanitas carries on from our three curriculum

components in Years 7 to 10: curriculum offerings; individual projects; and

community projects.
