Vic & Tasmanian IB Diploma Coordinators Network

This network consists of the IB Diploma Coordinators from each of the nineteen IB Diploma schools that currently operate in Victoria and Tasmania. The nineteen current members of the group meet once per term to discuss the various aspects associated with the running of the IB Diploma within represented schools. This includes sharing best practice with regard assessment processes, curriculum delivery, administrative matters and pedagogy leadership, as well as offering advice and assistance. This network is also open to any school in Victorian and Tasmania that decides to undertake IB Diploma Programme authorisation.

Activities & services

The network members meet quarterly to share best practice and offer advice and assistance. The group rotates the hosting of two key recognition events each year. In February a celebratory event is held to acknowledge the outstanding achievement and talent of the previous years’ IB Diploma Programme graduating cohort. This Victoria and Tasmania IB Awards Ceremony is held at Federation Square and provides an opportunity to award Certificates of Distinction to those graduates who gained an IB Diploma score of 40 points or more. The second event takes the form of an IB Art Exhibition, actively organised by the Visual Arts teacher network. The exhibition is held at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery for three weeks each year to showcases an exciting range of student artwork from the IB Diploma Visual Arts subject.

The IB Coordinator’s network also supports the establishment and regularly meeting of subject specific networks for IB teachers. Currently there are subject networks in existence for English A: Literature, Spanish ab initio, Economics, Geography, History, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Visual Arts and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). Special events have also been held by particular IB Schools within the network, such as IB Language B workshops and IB Music workshops.
