Our pastoral structure ensures each and every student is known, nurtured and loved at every stage of their educational journey. Our innovative mentoring program runs throughout a student’s entire life at the College, from their first day of school to their final exam preparation in year 12. Each student is assigned a mentor: a teacher who meets regularly with the student, closely monitoring their academic and pastoral progress and establishing a strong partnership with their parents. Counsellors, chaplains and other pastoral staff are also on hand to assist with any issues relating to student wellbeing, and mindfulness practices are embedded in the program at every year level.

In 2006 St Leonard’s College was authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). We value the PYP for its international focus, along with its emphasis on developing the whole child as an inquirer, both within and beyond the classroom.
St Leonard's College became the first International Baccalaureate World School in Victoria, and the second in Australia, when we introduced the Diploma Programme in 1982. From humble beginnings 38 years ago, the IBDP at St Leonard’s College has grown to become the qualification of choice for around one third of our senior students.
