Primary Early Years Teacher

Preshil seeks a teacher with the ability to teach Primary and Early Years in a team teaching arrangement, as well as with specialist teachers, to deliver transdisciplinary units of learning within the PYP framework. While some experience in the International Baccalaureate is desirable, a willingness to undertake the IB training will be considered.

This is a full time, ongoing position commencing January 2021 with preference given to candidates with Early Years Training.

This position is for early years, which ranges from 3 year old kindergarten to grade 2

General duties

  • Take responsibility for the learning of all children in the class group using a range and balance of teaching strategies
  • Work in a team teaching arrangement, as well as with specialist teachers to deliver transdisciplinary units of learning within the IB Primary Years Programme framework
  • Ensure teaching addresses the needs of both individuals and groups and is differentiated to provide challenge and support
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of an outstanding project-based curriculum program within the school
  • Undertake other teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the Assistant Principal, such as contributing to camps, excursions, co-curricular activities and electives
  • Nurture, comfort, guide and actively support children and families in the Kindergarten and early years
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with EYLF and VEYLDF
  • Respectful, collaborative approach to communication and relationship building
  • Evaluate and reflect on the learning of each child and plan for the development of the whole child
  • Undertake other classroom and organizational duties as determined by the Director of the Kindergarten or the Head of Campus
  • Liaise with parents and provide regular, timely feedback and assessment of children’s learning and development
  • Participate in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions
  • Undertake ongoing professional growth in line with the school’s strategic direction
