Visual Arts Teacher

Terrey Hills · New South Wales

Are you an experienced Visual Arts teacher? If so, we encourage you to apply for the position of Visual Arts Teacher for Term 1, 2024 for our Senior Secondary (IB Diploma Program), which is taught in English as the language of instruction.

The flexibility to teach in our Junior Secondary (bespoke GISS curriculum - a combination of NSW and German curriculums), where Visual Arts is taught in German as the language of instruction, and the ability to teach across other disciplines where the language of instruction might be English, German, or both, would be ideal. We are happy to consider applications for both part-time (2-3 days) or full-time positions.

GISS is a small international school offering a bilingual education (German and English) from Preschool to the IB Diploma. We are accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and registered by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and, the Federal Republic of Germany as a German School Abroad. We are a highly reputable, co-educational day school situated on the Northern Beaches, with a rich history of quality education.

As a bilingual school (English/ German), it is preferable the candidate can teach in both languages of instruction but this is not mandatory for this position.

Applicants are required to have:

  • current NESA teacher accreditation (or to be eligible),
  • current Working with Children Check (or to be eligible),
  • the right to work in Australia (or to be eligible).

Key descriptors and skills:

  • Demonstrated effectiveness and experience as a teacher of secondary students.
  • Being a flexible team player with an international, growth mindset who will contribute positively and collaboratively to a multi-disciplinary teaching team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, continuous school improvement meetings, and other professional opportunities.
  • Being committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population in a bilingual, international, inclusive, non-selective learning environment.
  • Embracing and promoting our philosophical guiding statements to support, maintain and uphold our school’s values, ethos, mission, and vision.
