Ongoing full-time psychologist to join our Counselling team at our Preparatory School.

Trinity Grammar School seeks a ongoing full-time experienced psychologist to join our Counselling Services team working at our Preparatory School.

Counselling Services team of Trinity Grammar School work in partnership in the provision of counselling related services, psychological assessment and administrative functions to the School community with a focus on student welfare and wellbeing. Our goal is to identify, support, encourage and monitor the development of positive social and emotional health of students to enrich their personal and School experiences through the provision of high-quality psychological services within a diverse School community. We work collaboratively with key stakeholders to support and empower our school community to be informed, considerate and ethical community contributors.

If you enjoy a challenge, are a natural problem-solver who can think laterally working with colleagues to support, develop and implement strategies equipping students with the ability to be happy, thrive and learn at school, then this may be the role for you.  Working closely with the Head of the Preparatory School and the wider psychological services team, this role is responsible for the provision of psychological services and counselling support to our primary students within the early Learning and primary school setting. Commencing in 2024 at a mutually suitable time, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Campus and the Director of Counselling Services providing evidence-based interventions for students in collaboration with other staff, relevant professionals, and parents/family members. The role requires the School Psychologist to provide psychological testing and assessment, counselling support that may include trauma focused therapy and critical incident management, consultancy with other health professionals and to other staff - while working in accordance with School policies and procedures and relevant legislation.

This role will suit an individual who is looking to expand their experience supporting primary aged boys and families. We are willing to work with the successful candidate to negotiate the workload. Ideally the role will be filled full-time, however we would also consider a 4 day a week arrangement for the right candidate. 

Commencement date negotiable.

Reporting to the Director of Counselling Services, the successful candidate will require the following;

 Essential Skills, Experience and Criteria:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Proven track record of working both collaboratively and independently within a team setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Resilience with a well-developed sense of humour
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to meet expected deadlines, while appropriately and effectively prioritising multiple often competing tasks
  • Previous counselling experience working with students from an Early Learning and Primary school age setting
  • Experience in psychological assessment of school-aged children and adolescents
  • Experience in crisis management and Child Protection
  • Sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and other mandatory reporting requirements as they apply to NSW Schools, and a strong commitment to providing a child safe environment
  • A current working with children check
  • A valid  COVID-19 vaccination certificate
