Good News Lutheran College are seeking suitabe candidates for 2 x positions as Assistant Head of Years for Tarneit and 1 x position as Assitant Head of Primary Years for Mambourin.

Good News Lutheran College is situated on 20 acres in Tarneit, approximately 30 kms from the Melbourne CBD and has landscaped gardens, recreational spaces surrounding classrooms and buildings. The College also has a gymnasium, chapel, and sports ovals, along with new and modern facilities for Technologies, Science and Arts.

Good News Lutheran College aims to provide an educational pathway for each student by focusing on strong Christian values. The College has grown significantly from a small group of 24 students who commenced in 1997, to its first Year 12s graduating at the end of 2016, and the 1000+ students on campus today.

About the Role

Assistant Head of Years, Tarneit

This position exists to support the Head of Years to lead, develop and manage high quality learning outcomes for our students. This will occur through a focus on student attendance, behavior, care, support, welfare and guidance.

 

The purpose of the position is to:

(i) Oversee the pastoral care of the students and be available to students and parents / guardians as required.

(ii) Establish positive relationships with students, parents / guardians, staff and external agencies in line with the College’s vision and values

(iii) Provide high quality pastoral support, ensuring high attendance and good punctuality

(iv) Identify and intervene in behavioural and safeguarding issues

 

Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum, Mambourin

The Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum is a key curriculum leadership role that develops, coordinates and monitors the IB PYP across Primary Years. The Assistant Head of Primary Years – Curriculum is also responsible for supporting the Head of Campus lead, develop and manage high quality learning outcomes for our students. This will occur through a focus on student attendance, behaviour, care, support, welfare and guidance.

 

The purpose of the position is to:

(i) oversee the pastoral care of the students and be available to students and parents / guardians as required.

(ii) establish positive relationships with students, parents / guardians, staff and external agencies in line with the College’s vision and values

(iii) provide high quality pastoral support,ensuring high attendance and good punctuality

(iv) identify and intervene in behavioural and

safeguarding issues

The Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum will be responsible for undertaking PYP Coordinator duties. The Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum should have proven teaching ability and be able to act as a pedagogical leader of the Primary Years Programme. The IB sees the responsibility for pedagogical leadership within the school as being a shared responsibility, to include the Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum, Head of Campus, Principal and members of the pedagogical leadership team. This team at Good News Lutheran College comprises of the Principal, Head of Campus, MYP and PYP Coordinators, Heads of Years and Learning Enrichment Coordinator. The Assistant Head of Primary Years - Curriculum is expected to display pedagogical leadership and to promote creative, innovative thinking among colleagues in regard to curriculum, assessment and reporting.

Selection Criteria

  • Teacher’s registration to teach in Victoria
  • Qualifications supporting, and experience teaching in Primary Years
  • Commitment to the Christian Ethos of the College
  • Have excellent relationship and communication skills
  • IB Experience Preferred
