0.60FTE Contract Position

13 weeks (16 March to 26 June 2020)

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding School from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Pembroke School offers the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma and the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

We are seeking a skilled teacher of Geography with passion and enthusiasm for the subject for this 13 week contract commencing start of Week 8 Term 1 to end of Term 2 2020. The successful candidate will be working with students in Years 7-11 across our Middle and Senior School campuses. They must be an excellent practitioner who can quickly form strong relationships with students and teachers within the Faculty, with a willingness to employ a range of teaching methodologies to engage students and enable positive student outcomes. In Geography classes students gain a spatial, environmental and social view of contemporary society through topics such as urbanisation, population, processes at work on the landscape, wellbeing, globalisation and environmental quality. The inquiry-based, practical, student-centred curriculum allows students to develop problem solving and report writing skills. The use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is an integral part of geographic learning from Years 7-12.

Pembroke is a school with a strong tradition of success in Geography with the subject being taught both in the Middle School and in the Senior School through SACE and IB courses. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to this positive culture of Geography at the School.
