Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is an independent Anglican school with an enrolment of approximately 1,400 students and a 90 year tradition as a leader in the education of girls. Offering a world-class education including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme our intent is to develop young women who are well-educated and who insist on living ethically and purposely.

The Role

As a highly motivated leader responsible for the quality of teaching and learning in the Faculty, we are seeking a Head of Faculty who will be proactive and innovative about curriculum development and who will lead a dynamic and experienced team of professionals.

This is an opportunity to join a dedicated, supportive and innovative team in a School committed to excellence. The role will commence on Monday 12 October 2019 or by negotiation, the School may be willing to discuss a start date in January 2020.

The Faculty

The Science and Technology Faculty share a passion for teaching and have a record of fostering outstanding student achievement. Members of the Faculty strive to broaden student learning through meaningful inquiry and the scientific methods. The Faculty offers both Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses in Years 11 and 12, with Science being compulsory in Years 7 to 10 and Information Technology (IT) in Years 7 and 8.

Appropriate academic qualifications and teacher training, as well as a sound understanding of current educational trends and learning styles are required.

All teaching staff members are expected to take part in the whole life of the School including participation in pastoral care and involvement in co-curricular activities.

Eligibility for registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute which includes a Working with Vulnerable People check are conditions of employment. A current first aid certificate is desirable.
